We begin the adventure with a 1.5-hour journey along a fully paved road to visit Tiwanaku, known as the “Cradle of American Civilization.” This archaeological site is among the oldest of the Andean cultures, and its remains are impressive for both their monumentality and the perfection of their construction and decorative techniques. We will visit several highlights including: the Tiwanaku Museums, and various ruins such as the Akapana Pyramid, the Kalasasaya Temple, the Gate of the Sun, the Fraile and Ponce monoliths, and the Semi-Subterranean Temple. You will also have the opportunity to observe local crafts, including carefully carved small stones inspired by monoliths, Tiwanaku and Aymara amulets, as well as finely crafted pottery such as ceremonial vessels, incense burners, the Gate of the Sun, and more. Additionally, we will visit the Puma Punku Temple, also known as a pre-Inca workshop. Return to the hotel.

In the afternoon, we continue exploring this wonderful city, appreciating its cultural, historical, architectural, and natural richness. We’ll visit the main square “Pedro Domingo Murillo,” the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Congress, and the Government Palace (exterior view), the Museum of Precious Metals (closed on Mondays), and the Killi Killi viewpoint, which offers a panoramic view of La Paz and the snow-capped Illimani Mountain, as well as a replica of the Semi-Subterranean Temple of Tiwanaku. We’ll then head to the southern part of the city to observe the change in climate and architectural style, before visiting the Valley of the Moon — a surreal landscape that challenges the imagination, resembling a miniature lunar desert, with formations created by erosion that look like volcanic craters. You will also have the chance to take a ride on one of the city’s cable cars, and end the day by visiting the Witches' Market, where locals buy items used in ceremonies or rituals such as the Challa and offerings to Pachamama (Mother Earth). At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to board your flight to the stunning Salar de Uyuni. Upon arrival, we will transfer to the city center to begin our tour with a visit to Colchani, where we’ll explore its local artisan market. There, you can visit shops selling items made from salt, as well as textiles crafted from llama and alpaca wool. We’ll also have the opportunity to observe the traditional salt production process. We’ll continue with visits to the Salt Mounds, the saltwater eyes (spring-like holes), the Dakar Rally monument, and the World Flags Plaza. Next, we’ll visit the first Salt Hotel, now a museum and restaurant, where lunch will be served. In case of cold and windy weather with dust, lunch will be a picnic on the salt flats, complete with colorful tablecloths and pillows. After lunch, we’ll visit Incahuasi Island, known for its giant cacti. Here, we’ll take a short hike to the top of the island for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Uyuni Salt Flats. Out on the flats, you’ll have the chance to take incredible perspective photos and film unique, one-of-a-kind videos. We’ll then head back across the salt flats to witness the sunset with its stunning mirror effect. Return to the village and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay.

We will head to the city of Uyuni to visit the famous Train Cemetery, a place full of history and remnants of Bolivia’s railway past. We will then continue our journey through the community of San Cristóbal and the village of Alota, until we reach the viewpoint of the impressive Ollagüe Volcano (5,865 meters above sea level), where it will be possible to observe fumarolic activity from this active volcano. Further along, we’ll explore a series of stunning high-altitude lagoons, such as Laguna Cañapa, Laguna Hedionda, Laguna Honda, Charcota, and Laguna Ramaditas. These lagoons are natural habitats for Andean flamingos, which use them as feeding and resting areas during their migratory routes. The journey continues through the arid yet spectacular Siloli Desert, with landscapes that look like they’re from another planet, on the way to the hotel where we will spend the night. Lunch will be served along the route, and dinner is included. Overnight stay.

We will begin our journey with a visit to the Stone Tree, an impressive geological formation created by wind erosion. We will then continue towards Laguna Colorada, the gateway to the Eduardo Abaroa Reserve, a place known for its reddish waters and the wildlife that inhabits the area. Next, we will head to the Sol de Mañana Geysers, where we’ll stop for photographs at 5,770 meters above sea level, enjoying the steam and geothermal activity. Afterward, we’ll visit the Polques Hot Springs, where the warm waters, at a temperature of 38°C, invite relaxation. We will continue towards the Salvador Dalí Rocks, a surreal landscape that recalls the works of the famous painter. From there, we’ll head to the Licancabur Volcano Viewpoint to enjoy a spectacular view of the Green Lagoon. To close our tour, we will visit the White Lagoon. On our way back to Uyuni, we will have the opportunity to observe the Valley of Rocks and the San Cristóbal Church. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 7 • LA PAZ – COPACABANA – SUN ISLAND – LA PAZ
DAY 7 • LA PAZ – COPACABANA – SUN ISLAND – LA PAZ

The guide will be at the hotel early in the morning to meet the passengers. The tourist bus is expected, and we will depart for Copacabana (a 4-hour journey). The first stop will be at the Tiquina Strait, where everyone will get off the bus to cross the lake by motorboats. Once we reach the other side of the lake, we will return to the bus to continue the journey, enjoying panoramic views of the lake. Upon arrival in Copacabana, there will be a brief visit to the church and the town of Copacabana.

Next, we will depart by private motorboat to the southern part of the Sun Island, where the Inca Empire was born. Here, we will visit pre-Columbian ruins such as the Yumani steps, the Inca fountain, and the Pillkocaina Palace, from which we will have a panoramic view of the Royal Mountain Range (Cordillera Real) or the Andes. Lunch on the island will be an Apthapi, a traditional Andean meal. After the visit, we will return to Copacabana and then travel back to the city of La Paz by local bus. We will arrive at the local bus stop (Cementerio), and from there, we will transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay.
