Upon arrival at Ivalo Airport, you will be transferred to the hotel to check in. Located in the far north of Finnish Lapland, the picturesque town of Inari-Saariselka is known for its stunning landscapes and a range of activities suited to each season. Surrounded by national parks, lakes, rivers, and hills, it offers numerous opportunities to explore nature in all its glory. During the winter months, one of the main attractions is the breathtaking Northern Lights, visible in the Arctic sky for 200 days a year. The charming village of Saariselka, recognized as Finland's northernmost tourist destination, offers a wide range of services to suit all tastes. Furthermore, in Inari and the nearby villages, the Sami culture remains an integral part of everyday life, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in an authentic Lapland experience. The rest of the day will be free for you to enjoy at your own pace. When checking in, be sure to ask for the welcome letter from our provider, which will include detailed information on the schedule and meeting point with your tour guide.

DAY 2 • SAARISELKA

In the morning, prepare to enjoy a unique outdoor experience, literally breathing in the fresh Arctic air as you follow in the footsteps of the Sami. Your guide will teach you how to properly wear snowshoes, ensuring a safe and comfortable walk across the endless white carpet that covers the forests of Lapland. You’ll feel the crunch of snow beneath your feet, an authentic sensation that will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the true spirit of winter in the north. As you make your way through the landscape, you'll have the chance to explore nearby hills and the majestic Urho Kekkonen National Park, which surrounds the Saariselka area. On your return to the town, your guide will direct you to an excellent spot where you can enjoy a delicious Finnish soup, a comforting choice to recharge your energy. In the afternoon, we suggest relaxing in a traditional sauna, perfect for relieving tension and rejuvenating after the morning activity, immersing yourself in one of Finland's most iconic traditions. Overnight stay. Option to take an "optional excursion: Aurora Hunting in a Heated Sleigh." The silent, snow-covered forest, nightfall at the edge of the endless wilderness, and the magical Northern Lights above you. Sit back in the heated Aurora sleigh and enjoy! Your guide will tow the sleigh with a snowmobile through the snowy, lunar, and starry landscape to the top of the ridge, far from residential areas and light pollution. Once you arrive, we prepare our cameras and capture photographs of the northern night sky. We wait for the Northern Lights to appear comfortably by the fire, enjoying hot drinks and listening to stories until someone spots the first aurora. Now, your imagination is the only limit: the Northern Lights waving across the sky, constellations, snow-covered trees, and the bright, snow-dusted hills.

DAY 3 • SAARISELKA – ROVANIEMI
DAY 3 • SAARISELKA – ROVANIEMI

In the morning, the adventure continues as we head towards Rovaniemi. Along the way, we will make a stop at one of the highlights of the trip. You’ll have the opportunity to meet the traditional Sami people, who will share their wisdom about reindeer and their deep connection with Sami culture, especially the importance of these animals in their way of life. Your host will teach you how to throw the Suopunki, the traditional Sami lasso, an ancient skill tied to reindeer herding. Next, you’ll have a unique experience: riding in a two-person sled, you will be pulled by a reindeer through the snowy landscape, crossing a frozen lake and entering the forest. During this peaceful ride, the only sound that will break the silence is the soft jingling of the bells worn by the reindeer, creating a magical and serene atmosphere. After this experience, you’ll enjoy a delicious three-course traditional lunch at the Sami farm, where you can savor the authentic flavors of the region. Later, you will head to the Scandic Hotel, where you will check in and begin your Christmas adventure in this charming destination. Once settled, you can enjoy a buffet dinner with Lapland specialties, a true delight for the senses. If you wish, you can end the evening with the revitalizing experience of a Finnish sauna, a tradition that, besides relaxing the body, will immerse you even more in Finnish culture. Option to take an "optional excursion: Arctic Ice Floating." Imagine immersing yourself in a frozen lake under the stunning Northern Lights! This excursion offers the opportunity to experience Arctic ice floating. If weather conditions allow, you’ll have the chance to enjoy this magical moment while your mind relaxes in the serenity of the Arctic. Though it may sound unusual, floating is completely safe, as you will be provided with a high-quality rescue suit that covers your entire body and keeps you dry, ensuring comfort even in water temperatures close to freezing. Additionally, since you wear your own clothes beneath the suit, you won't feel cold at any point. The surroundings are undoubtedly Arctic, and if the sky is clear, we might be lucky enough to observe the stars and, if conditions permit, even marvel at the majestic Northern Lights. Remember, this activity requires pre-booking, so be sure to secure your spot for an unforgettable experience. PRE-BOOKING REQUIRED

In the morning, we will head to the Ranua Zoo, located 80 km south of Rovaniemi, which will take us about an hour by bus. Upon arrival, we will embark on a fascinating tour of the zoo, where you can discover a variety of native animals and birds. We’ll begin our visit with an impressive collection of owls (snowy, eagle, and common owls), eagles, falcons, ducks, and swans, which will captivate everyone’s attention. Next, we’ll move on to the rodent section and then reach the most impressive part of the zoo: the brown bears and polar bears, which live in conditions similar to those of the harsh northern latitudes, making this experience even more unique. Around midday, we’ll enjoy a self-service lunch at the zoo's restaurant, where you can try local delicacies and recharge your energy. After lunch, you will have an hour of free time to explore the surroundings of the zoo. You can take the opportunity to visit the souvenir shops, the famous Fazer candy factory workshop, or even the local wine shop, where exclusive wines made from forest fruits such as bilberries, lingonberries, and more are sold. If the weather allows, you can admire the stunning Northern Lights and millions of stars from the comfort of your bed—a truly unforgettable experience.
