DAY 2 • LIMA

In the morning, we will begin our visit to the City of Kings. Our first stop will be the famous Kiss Park in the Miraflores district, an iconic location with a beautiful view of the Lima Bay. We will then head to the Historic Center of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage site, full of stories from the past. On the way, we will pass by the Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca pyramid that blends in with the modern city. We will reach the Plaza Mayor of Lima, surrounded by the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, the Government Palace, and the City Hall. We will enter the Cathedral of Lima, where the tomb of the conqueror Francisco Pizarro is located. We will cross the Plaza Mayor and visit the Convent of Santo Domingo, a colonial architectural gem where time seems to have stopped. The remains of Saint Rose of Lima, Saint Martin de Porres, and Saint John Masías, saints of great devotion, rest here. Inside, we will find a large library that houses books printed in the 15th century. This is also the place where the first university in the Americas, San Marcos, was founded. After our visit to downtown Lima, we will return to the hotel.

We recommend reserving a table at one of the most prestigious restaurants in Lima. In the afternoon, we will visit the Larco Museum, where we will gain a clear understanding of the cultures that inhabited Ancient Peru. We will be amazed by the gold pieces, textiles, and erotic ceramics that are part of the collection, offering insight into the worldview of the ancient Peruvians. The museum’s storage area will be open during our visit, allowing us to admire the art expressions depicted in their ceramics. Our next stop will be an old pisco tavern in the Pueblo Libre district. We will enjoy a Chilcano, made with pisco, and a classic butifarra sandwich. Finally, we will head to the Magic Water Circuit, a park with ornamental fountains that put on a marvelous show of color and fantasy.
